Mapping Ernest Paulin and Emma Jane Jennings
Here is the map for Ernest Paulin and his wife Emma Jennings. It is perhaps one of the biggest lists of residences, but then Ernest moved around a lot in his life. Economic insecurity, and other factors led him to live in Birmingham, Victoria BC, Ilford, and Leigh-on-Sea. He died in Victoria in 1912, and the family continued to move about a fair bit before settling in Perry Barr. I included some of the addresses Emma had as a widow on this map.
Where we lived, George Rutherford, Victoria, 1915
According to his attestation papers, George Frederick Andrew Rutherford lived here with his wife Beatrice Friar and their two children, when he signed up for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in December 1915. The house on the site appears to date from that period – so I think this is the same building.
George was the son of Louise Paulin and Robert Rutherford. He moved to Canada around 1911.

Paulin-Daniels
At St Matthais Church, Foul Bay, on Saturday at 11.30, Rev Alan Gardiner united in marriage Muriel Margaret, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs FJ Daniels, 2533 Margate Avenue, Oak Bay, and Mr George Paulin, elder son of Mr and Mrs George Paulin.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a pink dress and hat, with matching accessories, and a corsage bouquet of gardenias and white roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Dorothea Daniels, who wore a rust colored dress and hat, and a corsage bouquet of carnations. Lieut-Col Vincent McKenna was best man.
After the service, the bridal party and immediate relatives had luncheon at the Empress Hotel, Mr and Mrs Paulin leaving on the afternoon boat for Vancouver, en route to Seattle. On their return, they will make their home on Oliver Street, Oak Bay.

Here is a map for George and Violet Lapraik. I have another address 2630 Bransome, Berkeley, but I cannot find it on the map. They lived in Seattle and Berkeley, CA.

The Family of Mr and Mrs OW Pauline will gather at their Foul Bay Road home for the Christmas holidays. Coming from Vancouver are their son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs T Irvine Cormack, and their twin sons. Also joining the family party will be Mr and Mrs Pauline’s daughter Miss Carol Pauline, Vancouver.
Concert for Mrs Miller, 1899

A concert is to be given in Sir William Wallace hall on Wednesday evening, 19th inst, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to assist Mrs Miller, a poor lady, to reach England, where she has relatives. Mrs Miller is partially blind and her case is an eminently deserving one. Mr WJ Hanna will take the chair at the concert and among those taking part are Mesdames Hall and Hunt, Misses Wilson and Baker, and Messrs George Burnett, Benedict Bantly, JG Brown, G Watson, H Firth, WD Kinnaird, R Wilson, R Robertson. A subscription list has been opened to aid Mrs Miller and the charitable disposed are invited to assist this truly deserving case.

Benedict Bantly, who recently opened a studio in the Garesche building, has determined to introduce a little innovation into his methods of teaching here. At the request of a number of friends he has decided to commence class tuition along the lines of the Liepzig and other large European conservatories. This system has served special advantages in that a pupil has the opportunity of benefiting by the instruction given to others in the same class and gains confidence by playing before them. Other advantages are also claimed for this system.

Here is the map for Nellie Paulin, who was first married to Daniel Louis Hickey in 1906, then Benjamin Bantley in 1950. She lived in Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle and San Mateo.

Wedded Tuesday
Christ Church Cathedral was the scene of a quiet wedding on Tuesday evening, when Very Rev Dean Quainton united in marriage Marguerite Amy, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles F Gardiner, 1013 Fairfield road, and Cyrus J Dougan, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs James Dougan, of “Hill Bank” Cobble Hill. The church was attractive with early summer flowers. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a pretty travelling costume of sand colored gabardine with a white hat, and carried a shower bouquet of bride’s roses. Miss Dorothy Gardiner her sister, attended her as bridesmaid, wearing a smart costume of pale grey with rose trimmings. Her hat was also old rose in coloring, and her bouquet was of pink roses. Mr George Stevenson acted as best man. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents immediately following the ceremony, many friends calling to extend their good wishes. The wedding trip includes a visit to Harrison Hot Springs.
